Place a hold on print material

Find an item in the library shelves by searching or by searching, and clicking the “Retrieve hard copy” link if there is one, which will direct you to the specific record in the catalog.

When you are looking at the record in the catalog, click the Place Hold link on the right side of the screen. You will need to login using your WMU email credentials to place a hold. (If you are not already logged in when you place the hold, you will have to search for the item again after you log in)

During COVID-19/distance learning, holds can be placed on all material. Do not come in to the library until you receive a message that your hold is ready to be picked up.

Once you have received the notification that your item is ready for pick up, please retrieve it within 2 business days. Items that are not picked up by then will either be put back on shelf or passed to the next person in the hold queue.

An item checked out from the library may be renewed online if no other patron has a hold on it at the time of renewal. Short loans cannot be renewed except by library staff.

The library will not retrieve items on shelf if there is a digital copy available.

Return library materials by placing them in the “RETURN BOOKS HERE” slot on the left side of the library Circulation Desk.
