When you see an item you want that is checked out, you can place a hold on it. This prevents the current user from renewing it and puts you in the hold queue (first come, first serve). When the item is returned, the library staff will set it aside for you and you will be notified by email to pick it up. If not picked up in the next two business days, the item will go to the next patron in the hold queue, or back on shelf if there are no other patrons waiting for it. If you are unavailable to pick up the item -- sickness, travel, etc. -- email the library staff.
